Micheal Lough has been a practicing architect for more than 30 years and has experience managing large commercial projects across a broad range of building types including high-rise residential, office buildings, research and education facilities, hotels, retail, mixed-use projects and residence halls. In 2006 Mike founded Integral Consulting LLC.  Prior to Integral Consulting Mike was a Vice President/Project Manager at Solomon Cordwell Buenz for 21 years where he developed the firm’s Standards and Guidelines, Detail Library, and the Mentoring/Quality Peer Review programs which focused on improving benchmarks and methods for Construction Documents.  Mike has been an active member at the national level in the AIA where he is a member of the Best Practices Committee and was a founding member of the Technical Design for Building Performance (TDBP) Knowledge Community.  He is or has been active as a member of the Construction Specification Institute, ICC, NCARB and U.S. Green Building Council and has earned the Building Enclosure Knowledge (CxA+BE) and Commissioning Authority + Building Enclosure (BECxP) certifications from the University of Wisconsin.

Mike has long believed that efficient and well organized project management and staff mentoring are foundational to the production of quality construction documents.  Quality construction documents are the best assurance in delivering a quality project and a successful construction administration phase.  Understanding the Owner’s expectations, an Owner’s Project Requirements, including programmatic and building performance criteria in the early phases of a project are necessary in developing processes yielding project efficiency and quality construction documents.  Integral Consulting constructability reviews focus on building performance requirements.  For building envelopes the focus includes tracing thermal, air and vapor barrier continuity and reviewing exterior detailing for rain water penetration strategies and detail integration.
